There are a variety of travel loops to consider in Iceland including the golden circle (1-3 days), ring road (7+ days), western fjords, north, east, and south.
Getting to Iceland
Often Iceland air is the cheapest. This is especially true if you wish to include Iceland on a trip to Europe from the US.
Activities and Lodging
We stayed at both hotels and apartments booked through Bookings.com and AirBnB. All were great and most were booked hours before we arrived at each location. Every site, hotel, and restaurant is listed here on TripAdvisor. Lodging is expensive in the summer ($250+) but more reasonable in spring and fall ($150+) per night.
In Reyhjavik Thingholt Hotel apartments is great as it is on the main tourist strip and has some free parking. Large rooms with washer/dryer. Discount if you book directly.
