| The Pennsylvania Archives, Chester County Land Rate Lists, shows Samuelas owning 150 acres in Lower Darby in 1765, 1779, and 1781. Samuel was disowned by the Darby Monthly Meeting in 1751 and re-instatedin 1756. Reason unknown but maybe for marrying out of the meeting. His will dated July 2, 1792, and proved in 1794 leaves the estate to hiswife and after her to his his children. By deed on May 10, 1803, recorded February 1, 1808, William Smith, PhilipEllick and wife Rachel, Mary Kelso, Nathan Pearson and wife Garrett,Rowland Smith and wife transfer to Tacy Smith and Sydney Smith ownershipof Ships Tavern in W. Chester which was purchased in 1783 by Samuel fromGeorge Logan including 2.5 acres of land. In 1778 he had two slaves. The executors of his will were his wife, Elizabeth, and John Pearson. |
